In PPR, doesn't WR-WR-WR produce more points and is safer?

grabbing 3 of the following
Calvin
Dez
DThomas
AJGreen
Julio
Marshall
A.Brown
Jordy
will score you more points than guessing which RB's will maybe produce this year
RB's that scored more than or the SAME as the elite WRs
2011
MJD,Rice,Mccoy,Foster,Sproles
2012
AP, Martin,Foster,Rice, Lynch
2013
Charles, Forte, McCoy, Knowshon Moreno
rarely do any of the top 5 RBs produce the following year
last year people wasted "value" on Foster,Lynch,AP, Martin, Richardson, Spiller, etc
you know who will be in the elite WR group
there are plenty of RBs in PPR formats to plug-in that will produce RB2-1 numbers: vereen,woodhead,p.thomas...plus every year there are injuries and spot starts or new backs that take over(gerhart, sankey, elligton, stacey)
seems pointless to go: Forte and murray, McCoy and Martin, Ap and Foster, etc
likely both will not produce, meaning that the strategy is bad.

Yes.
No matter what the magazines try and tell you, WR is the much safer bet. I've had great success with this strategy the past few years.
Too many teams use the running back by committee approach, and the few running backs that solely get the carries are much much more likely to get hurt.
Think about it... these RBs are getting hit every few downs by huge lineman and linebackers. WRs on the other hand are usually much bigger than the DBs (Megatron, DThomas, Julio) and have more rules in place to protect them from dangerous hits.

and this is what I think the real selling point is
Gio, murray, Bell, Stacey, Martin.....after week 3
murray's hurt
stacey platoon with tre
Bell's servicable
Martin's on fire
Gio is hit and miss with hill vulturing carries/TDs
so now you take one of your Elite WRs and trade him for a RB that is actually producing....thereby you actually get the value of the RB from the position that you drafted. WR's will be more scarce since you grabbed the 3 elites, and you should have no problem finding a trade partner
it's like a stock...RB's stock is volatile...so invest in the stable WRs...and then see which RBs stock survived the first few games and buy then

FOX Sports analyst and former Vice President of Officiating Mike Pereira said the biggest points of emphasis in the NFL's officiating clinic were illegal contact and defensive holding.
"Last time the NFL had this as a major emphasis was 2004," Pereira continued, "and the number of illegal contact fouls went from 79 to 191." What this may look like in practice is unknown, but it appears the league is cracking down on the physical cornerback play many of the best defenses in the league are built on. This is yet another move which should increase passing and offensive success throughout the league.
Even more reason to 3wr

In PPR, I tend to go for the guys in the slot. Sure it's nice to have Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, or DeMaryius Thomas but last year I had Wes Welker and Julian Edelman as my starting wideouts and they were great for me.

When other people have the same plan you can't just go WR WR WR like that. You have to adapt based on your own draft.

I'm sure you "went" for him during the draft last year.

I think you can win all day with a lackluster RB2 if you are strong at WR. It is just hard to get multiple elite WR and draft position really matters. I was very strong in a PPR last yr despite going with Rice 2nd. I went 3 WR next 3 rounds. But this year if you draft top 4-5 I think u still have to go RB at least 1st. There is too much drop off and the elite WR are gone in the second when it gets back.
It is a great strategy if you pick say 9th. You could get Graham and Thomas say and be stacked. Then start filling in RB while others select lesser WRs.

Few other things of note:
Last yr was a large variance in the amount of high RB bust. Also most who went WR WR last year were losing to the guy that grabbed Payton or Brees while they were hoarding second tier RB. I know that happened to me. I was strong but wasn't beating the guy with McCoy, Dez, Welker, and Peyton.
