Any feelings on this? I have McFadden and also own Michael Bush, and while I realize McFadden has yet to play a full 16 games it drives me insane holding onto Bush for "just in case" purposes while having to pass up chances on potential gems like Helu, David Nelson, McCluster, hell even Dalone Carter. Is the smart thing to do just to hold onto Bush?

I don't mind holding the handcuffs to players that don't finish a season. For instance I have Tate and I'm loving it. He's not going to play for me as he's not better then my two starters, but I'm trying to trade him at the moment.

So my opinion is you aren't going to play those gems because you are playing McFadden. If McFadden gets hurt you aren't playing those gems because you are playing Bush.

Those gems aren't better than Bush playing for the Raiders.

Handcuffs are overrated

Why not just own any backup RB, whether it's your or someone else's.

Get the best players possible, frick a handcuff

who else in on your bench?

michael bush is pretty valuable regardless if he is a handcuff. Not a bad flex play in a pinch for a deeper league .

Definitely.

The only handcuff that is worth two roster spots is Foster/Tate because one of them will start and either one of them will put up really good numbers.

well if your starter goes down, you have an automatic replacement

if you are going to have two guys on your bench that are backups, you might as well have the handcuff cause the other guy wont play anyway.

say your starter gets hurt, you'll be in a lot better shape to replace him with his own replacement than someone else's backup.

I only handcuff players who have potential to do what the starter can do. I didn't handcuff Ray Rice or Matt Forte b/c I don't think their backups can come in and do what they do.

I will, however, draft backups in a good offense w/ upside like I did w/ Starks Snelling and Tate
