How early is too early for a QB?

12 team/standard/snake draft

I have the #1 pick and in some mocks I've been seeing Rodgers there in that mid 20s range. Ryan/Wilson seem to always be available by my next set of picks. What do the experts do here? Let's say I take Bell/Johnson at 1

I usually take a QB in round 6-7

IMO, having the 1st pick is even more reason to wait on QB unless you get an absolute no-brainer type of value. Once you pick 24 and 25, there's going to be a long run of mostly RB-WR's taken before you get another pick. I'd stack up as many as I could before I even thought about going QB. Maybe 4/5 if one of the top guys fall, but if not I'd wait until 8/9, at minimum, if possible.

Gotcha. This is my first time in the 1 spot so I'm just trying to foresee any possible scenarios.

What are TD passes worth?

If 6pts, late 2nd-early 3rd should be the target area

If Aaron Rodgers is there at the end of the 3rd, I'm taking him. But I'm in a keeper league and I'll have WR/WR + Ajayi, so it's a little different.

If his name isn't Rodgers/Brees/Brady, then be the last person to draft a QB. Those 3 are the only "guaranteed" top 5 finishers. The next 12-14 guys are all pretty much the same guy as far as average points per week. I'd rather grab the last of that batch and give myself one extra RB/WR lottery ticket in earlier rounds.

If you don't feel confident having a Dak Prescott or somebody as your only QB, you can grab Andy Dalton or Carson Palmer with your last round pick or off the waivers and just alternate them based on matchups

TD passes are worth 6 in our league. Only league I've ever played in so I don't know how standard that is but I have seen top end QBs carry teams. That's the only reason I'm even considering it.

Usually the first three rounds before you even consider it.

Only in Round 4 would I take Rodgers and that's if no one else comes close in what he would bring in productivity wise.

Having said that, I've never had Rodgers or Brady or Brees or Manning. I always wait until rounds 6-7.
