I am commish so I know I am about to get asked how a team with less wins is winning the division, especially since I am the one leading the division with a 2 tie record.

I am leading my division at 6-3-2, ahead of the guy that is 7-4. How is that? I guess its because I only have 3 losses and its not by # of wins?

Does the 6-3-2 squad have more points scored on the year?

Yes - maybe that's it since the percentages are the same.

It's because you have a better winning %

It was always my understanding that a tie is essentially half a win and half a loss...so you have two half wins and that gets you to 7 wins.

My guess would be that you have the tiebreaker over him. Not sure...but interesting scenario you're in.

This isn't how it's done. Give 1 point for each win, 0.5 points for each tie, 0 points for each loss then divide by number of games. The 1 loss and 1 win gives the same value as 2 ties. That's why the winning percentage is the same.

It's this. I had essentially the same scenario in my league last year. 2 ties is equal to 1 win. Similarly, it's equal to 1 loss. Just think of each tie as .5 wins and .5 losses. The 6-3-2 team must be winning the tiebreaker over the 7-4 team.

The better question is why do you have 2 ties? Do you not do fractional scoring?

3 losses are less than 4. I don't think it is that simple though.
