In my original post I explained we are exploring changes TO all play. We have been doing the H2H format

TD Regulars league went to the "top 6 get a win, bottom 6 get a loss" format this year. Absolutely the best format I've played in.
I would think the All Play format would be more accurate, but this format is still better than H2H

In my opinion, all-play gives too big of a reward for one big week and too big of a penalty for a really bad week.
I think the top half getting the win is best of both worlds. Takes away the match-up issues with h2h and eliminates the issue I mentioned above.
All play is my second favorite format I've played.

Ah, my apologies. I missed that you were the OP.

I think our league is going to move towards all-play next year. It's probably gonna be top 6 get wins and bottom 6 get losses in addition to head-to-head. I'd rather strictly all play, but I can live with this compromise.

Is that how the championship is awarded too?
Posted on 12/17/13 at 7:29 pm to boom roasted
No, all play would determine the playoff seeds and then go to H2H. In our league we would make the regular season only go to week 12, rd 1 would be week 13, semis would be weeks 14&15, and championship would be 16&17

Nah you don't get it. By playing the top 6 get a win bottom 6 get a loss, you still have the head to head thing going. Imagine going into Monday night and having to worry about 3-4 teams instead of one. It's way better. Head to head gets stale when garbage teams stop caring half way through the season. With top 6 bottom 6 everyone is paying attention to every team each week. Plus you don't have BS losses where you lose to the top scoring team despite being the 2nd highest team that week. I put it together about 3 years ago and didn't know anyone who played like that. Now everyone who does it prefers it to regular head to head or roto. Trust me, it's as good as it gets for fantasy football.

I'm bookmarking this thread for next season so I don't forget. Which FF services offer this format?

Is all play an option on espn?

I love this premise but I'm confused about how the playoffs work. Top 6 teams get in the playoffs in a seeded bracket and games are played H2H?

I'd like to know this too. I've actually never heard of it and only do H2H. I like the idea, but I also like H2H because you can trash talk with friends. I guess I've just come to accept that sometimes you get bad breaks in FF. It can even happen in the playoffs when you go to the H2H matchups.
I'll try to push for it in one of my leagues next year so I can try it out!

This makes more sense to me. Why play the whole year based on highest scores and then switch back to H2H for playoffs?

This all play is the best format. TDFL does it.
Which fantasy sites give you this option? We are looking to switch in my main league, but I don't think espn allows you to do it.

Any site that let's you change the matchups after the week works. One of my leagues used Yahoo in this format; and we just kept the W/L records in a thread on the league site--and also in the weekly email chain.
TDFL has done this for 3 years and it's awesome. It took us two years for another league to switch, everyone loved it.
I can see this format becoming a natural setting in leagues.

Hopefully ESPN changes to allow this option. We have a few members that don't want to leave even though they want to do an All Play format.
