Commissioner question

What would you do if a non-playoff team dropped AJ Green?
AJ is injurred, has been injurred, but might play again this year.
There is nothing out there saying he is done for the year, otherwise this wouldn't be an issue if there was.
I assume it was a sincere move, and it's not someone dumping their whole team, but still could impact the playoff teams.
Thoughts?

Non playoff teams shouldn't be adding or dropping anyone unless they are still playing for something (prize for winning consolation bracket, etc).

When do your playoffs start?
Did he need a free agent to fill his best starting lineup this week?
Is there a consolation prize he's still in the running for?

start this week, he made the move this week.
consolation bracket doesn't have any prize.
it's never been a real issue before and this is an 11 year league.

If they have nothing to play for, then you lock all non-playoff rosters. Their season is done.

Is there no one else he could have dropped? If this was earlier in the season, I don't think it would be an issue, but now with playoffs starting I could see a problem. Especially if Green does come back.

This...what reason could he possibly have to drop a player at this point?

I agree. Lock the non-playoff rosters, especially with no consolation prize.

i agree with what was said multiple times
non playoff teams should not be making any roster moves when there's nothing on the line for them
any move is sketchy , one of the unwritten rules

I'm going to give what is seemingly an unpopular position on this board. I don't think there's any problem with this. Teams not in the playoffs should be allowed to continue to manage their teams if you have a consolation bracket (even if there's no prize for the winner). Unless there's literally no games left for a team, they should be allowed to continue to actively manage their team.
Given that, I don't think this is shady. I wouldn't drop AJ Green, as he may still play this year, but he also may be done for the year, and if someone doesn't want to hold a wasted roster spot than it's their choice.
Also, of course each league can set their own rules about continuing to manage a roster once playoffs start, but if there wasn't a rule in place already that you have to stop add/dropping when eliminated, than it would be wrong to create the rule now. Wait until next year. Especially since, as you say, this is an 11 year old league.
