Why would Julian Edelman's owner do this trade?

Neither Darren Sproles or Brandin Cooks hold much value and Edelman is a machine in PPR. He's been a high-end WR2 for the last couple seasons now and is finding his way into the upper-echelon of PPR receivers in 2015.

As a Cooks owner, I am not expecting anything more than a solid kicker or TE out of him. Waiting for a good game for sell high value... might get a mediocre WR3

I don't understand why people think that waiting until you think it is time to give up on a player is prime time to trade that player away. The reason you feel about ready to give up on a player is the same reason you won't get any value back for him. If you are smart, you are stuck with him until he shows something then you get to decide if you want to sell high (if you can) or if you think he keeps it up.
