I think the rule requiring the bottom half of the draft slots to be scrambled is silly.

I assume you mean the top half of the draft (the bottom half of the previous year's standings).

I feel like we've done plenty to help teams that struggled the year before. We changed from a snake format to a standard format last year, if you remember. Before that, it was even more of a disadvantage to have a bad team.

I thought the rule was in place as an incentive to set your lineup and field a competitive team, regardless of your team's record. It's not there to help weaker teams. It's really there to help the contenders by eliminating the bye weeks that result from a team dogging it. The intention is good. The problem is that you punish teams that do set their lineup every week, even though they have no chance of making the playoffs. All because some dipshit quits. If someone stops setting their lineup, they get warned. If they ignore the warning, they get booted. That would take care of it 100% of the time. Why do we need the extra rule?

Well, I can easily see an active member (like rondo) trade away a ton of mid-range guys in exchange for a ton of hurt keeper-quality players, because he knows that he can get the first pick in the draft if he continues to suck. In other words, you can still tank even if you are an active player.

I was just using you as an example because you are known to be very active.

Jeeze.

Whats wrong with grabbing hurt keepers in order to have them for a discount? It's a strategy. I think we're over-regulating this in an attempt to control how owners manage their teams. Do you really think a lottery will keep shitty teams active? All you're doing is impacting the teams that are doing what they should be doing by preemptively trying to penalize those that COULD try to tank. All the while with the threat of expulsion in place. All we need is to have one penalty and have the gonads to use it. Two rules do not result in an increased disincentive.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all. I've done it before as well.

I think you are missing the point of the rule change. Before, EVERYONE was entered into the lottery. Now, only those that didn't make the playoffs have a shot at a top pick. It's WAY better now than it was before.

Huh? When was everyone entered into a lottery? We went from a straight draft determination based on the previous year's results, to the new rule. And if I'm missing the point, you certainly didn't shed any light on it. What is the point then?

Maybe I am getting my leagues mixed up.

I'm more than happy to put it to a vote. It would also be nice if others would give some input.

I'm not trying to be a hard-on about this. I'd be interested in other owner's opinions as well. In the end I'll adhere to whatever the league or a vote decides.

Is it a weighted lottery or even odds for bottom half?

It's weighted. ten teams are in the lottery.

Worst team gets 10 balls, second worst gets 9 balls.....first team out of playoffs gets 1 ball.

I'm fine with it since it's weighted.
