I'm not ready to put the country's eggs in that basket and am perfectly fine to roll with the Electoral College.

Besides, the fact that the popular vote is razor-thin even though the loser enjoys domination of voting in the most populous state/country of CaliMexico, shows that this popular vote 'advantage' is not even that substantial.

Millions of Americans don't vote in CA or NY because they realize their vote is meaningless. You'd be surprised how many MAGA votes would come out of CA if popular decided the election.

Millions of very conservative people live in California. They are just outnumbered by millions of super liberal whackjobs.

It needs to be split. The point was to give the states a more even weight in the election, now the states need to do the same and give weighted electoral distribution to all of their constituents.

CA has 38.8 million people, or 12.5% of the popular vote. They have 55 electoral votes or 10.2%.

However, in the current system all 55 EVs went to Clinton. In a popular vote system the Trump votes in California still count. Since we don't have the final tally I'll use 2012. Obama got 7.8 million and Mittens got 4.8. The total national popular vote was about 128 million.

So in a popular vote system, California gives O 6% and Mitt 3.7% of the total. In an EV system, California gives the Democrat 10% of the total.

It's a paradox. The EC gives California more influence even though it favors the GOP overall.
