No, you're not the only one. I can almost bet that Common Core is dead. But I also hope the indoctrination and liberal propaganda is eradicated like the plague it is. And hopefully kids will start learning American history and civics again.

I don't know enough about its content to attack that specifically, but I do know that federalized, centralized standards are absolutely terrible for any kind of innovation or advancement.

I have a third grader and right now it is mostly just normal adding double digit numbers, multiplication and division. When he was in 2nd grade common core math was a mess. Made zero sense. Can't wait until this is purged from the school systems.

Information control is mind control. We need to eliminate the federal Department of Education and return education decisions back to the states and local school boards because they are turning our children into clueless social justice warriors.

If a state's education system sucks, it's the fault of the people and their elected leaders in that state.

This is interesting.

I haven't had much issue with federal standards, because the LA standards were so terrible. As crazy as it sounds, I'd rather the bureaucrats in DC decide what my kids learn, because the ones in Baton Rouge and the unions here are horrific. I want my kids to learn... I don't care who decides the standards as long as they are good... and in LA... they were terrible for decades.

If we can't fix the system in LA... do we just damn our kids to crappy learning? Or go outside the box, which is what common core did.

Having two kids in school, I'm glad we chose the option we did.

My kids are in public school, Kinder and 3rd grade.

My kinder is just learning how to count and phonics and sight words.

My third grader, I review her homework and classwork with her every night. Her days is basically three blocks - English/Language Arts, Math, and what they call Social Learning, which is basically Science and History (they do a two week unit on science, then a 2 week unit on history, etc).

This two week period is history, specifically Louisiana history. I read the textbook every night. I look at the homework. I can tell you there is absolutely no propaganda in her state or her national history book. None. No liberal indoctrination.

She is doing a poster project this week and she could choose any LA "influential person" she chose. She chose Lindy Boggs. A friend of hers chose Tom Benson.

Her science consists of learning about measurements, rocks, weather, etc. No mention of climate change.

Math they are learning some new ways to do things, but every thing they learn makes perfect sense if you take 10 minutes to think about it. She's doing algebra in third grade. Algebra. ELA is fine as well. No crazy stories.

Maybe it's different when they get older, but in third grade, the fears of propaganda are way overblown.
