I owned an Exmark 60" laser z till it was recently stolen off my property. Great mower and worked well.
I'm thinking of going to a 72" deck but only mower brand I see that offers it in gas line and not deisel is John Deere. Does anyone have feedback on theirs? Or on others ?

Scag, Hustler, toro, ferris, and Dixie chopper all make a gas 72".

You realize Exmark makes a 72" gas mower, right?

I've got 13.5 years on my 717A and counting. It's a great mower. Many others make great mowers too.

Here's your downfall with a gas 72",
gas powered mowers dont produce as much power and when it comes to cutting that much thick grass at once, the diesel mower is able to power thru it

better stay with xmark or skag

Why not get a diesel? Longer life, quieter and lower fuel consumption plus higher resale value for a diesel. Plus you've got that power when you get in the tall, thick stuff.

Don’t get a John Deere, you’re paying for the name. Seriously we traded in the gravely we had and got a Deere and it’s broken down so many times. So we got rid of it and got another gravely and haven’t had nearly the amount of trouble. If any at all really.

Because diesel is about damn near twice the price.
Don't remember exact numbers, but it's roughly 16k for a gas and 26k for a diesel.

Diesel >gas at that wide of a deck. They sip fuel and have way more power. Only downside is weight. You can get a hardly used one for way less than retail.

Actually a gas burner will produce better in heavy grass. The governor responds better and the diesel has low end torque making it slower to respond when it bogs down. In lawnmowers horsepower is horsepower when cutting grass and that's what really matters.

Diesels aren't 26k. You can find a diesel with under 1000 hours for less than $10k all day. And it will last 5-6k hours.

Boy, was I off, just looked at the invoice and it was an exmark 72" diesel for $16k.
