If he stays healthy, back to back Heismans.

LF and Boykin and no one else is even close IMO. Both are playing very well. Thing is ppl factor in how important the player is to the teams success and those two are definitely the key ingredient. Neither team Would be favorites to win anything without these two

when he struck the heisman after his first TD, it was merely a warning, not a celebration.

If LSU beats Ole Miss and Bama, then I think he gets it. Team performance is a major factor.

Chubb is pretty decent too.

Yep. I can't wait to see what he does against bama on October 3rd.
It will be interesting.

Boykin
He's just a stat stuffer. He's not one of the best players in the country.

Like it or not, it's a QB award. With that as the undertone, LF needs the following to have a chance:
1. LSU must be in the NC hunt all year. Maybe moreso than ever before, it's an award that goes to the best player on the best team (the exceptions in recent years were RGIII, Manziel and Tebow - all QB). Ingram is the last RB to win it (with the lowest % of 1st place votes in the last 12 years). He probably wasn't the best RB in the country that year, but he was on the best team. Melvin Gordon had a huge year last season and really was a distant second to Mariota. RBs have to be special on a special team.
2. He has to have "highlight" plays against good teams. The AU game was huge for his chances. But fair or not, he could have 100 games the rest of the season and just be nothing more then an "also ran" unless he has some eye-popping runs against teams like Bama, Ole Miss, etc.
3. The potential QB candidates have to be relatively weak. Right now that is looking like the case. Other than Boykin, no one is putting up remarkable numbers. OSU looks to have QB trouble. Cook for MSU is a winner, but doesn't have much of a "wow" factor. No one is really standing out.

Don't think he really cares about that stuff. If he happens to still be in the running at the end of the year, it means the team will have done something really special as well.

I like the article linked in that about Fournette and LSU
quote:
Afterward, “the Flipper,” as the Fournette family and several friends had already named that third-quarter touchdown run, had become part of the growing legend around LSU’s sophomore running back. When it happened, junior safety Rickey Jefferson couldn’t help himself.
“Mama,” he yelled, “there goes that man!”

This is BS. You cannot downplay previous plays and move goal posts to meet your perception. The plays against AU are the ones that garnered attention. Future games will affect perception similarly.
Chubb will play against Bama and Auburn. Chubb's performance will be compared to LF's. LF will be playing Bama and Ole Miss on the road. Road stats would help more than home stats.
Of course, let the best player win!

those are some MEH choices past the top 3. I expect J.T.Barrett to show up if he plays well.
As someone said, this will likely come down to how LF and Chubb look against common opponents.
If they are bottled up at times, then Boykin has a shot. No way anyone would think he's as good as those 2, but stats and wins count for a lot in what is the ridiculous hype-fest known as the Heisman.

Lets just hope he puts a beating on Bama's front 7.
