Child punishment has always been an interesting line in regards to governmental involvement and punishment.. What follows is to me, an interesting case:

I will only speculate based on the information provided and I'm having a hard time justifying the arrest of the father. The man seems to be a rigid former military man who feels the discipline was warranted and not overboard.. According to the article, he didn't beat his child but his form of discipline was to extreme in forcing his kid to essentially go on marches with 20 pd landscaping stones.. What say the political board.. Was this a case of overreach or does this fall inline with child cruelty?

I would've preferred to go on marches rather than kneeling on dried rice like I used to have to do.

I could see the problem if the kid was 8, but what are your discipline options for a 16 year old boy?
Is this any worse than having a player run "suicides"?

That was kinda my thinking.. When I hit my teenage years, my punishment included groundings and unneeded yard work.. such as moving heavy shite around, only to have to move it back the next day. While playing sports, punishment was always cardio based and usually resulted in running until you vomited and then some more if it was to quick.

Overreach.
The government could do this and worse to the boy in the military in two years with impunity.

My dad was a strict disciplinarian like this. And as a 27 year old successful person, I am grateful.

Hmmmm, the kid is only 4-2 at age 16. He probably has retreated to video games because he is too small to play sports. But that's no excuse to sluff off on homework. It's his only path to success at that size.
