In the last 2 weeks Aminue has been a fairly respectable defender aaints opposing small forwars. At the same time Aminue continues to be completely brash when it comes to offense, as was expected. All i'm saying is that i hate that the ball ends up heading straight to aminu in a number of small ball sets and he cannot shoot for shite. But everytime he gets the ball and lifts off outside 5 feet I just pray that it will go in. Thoughts?

Aminu's shot chart i posted the other night:

I just liken him to Josh Smith:

with slightly better shot selection.

Boy can fly inside, but you know it ain't goin in outside of there.

Like i siad. Aminu is a fairly underrated fender who has been playing well now that he is starting again after he got benched. The problem is that every other team in the league allows Aminu open looks for three ball land for the sole reason that he has something around a 10% chance of even making it

Did you not watch tonight's game, you clear alter mriege3? Aminu FINALLY stopped settling for the mid range and actually attacked the rim off the bounce like Monty has been begging him to do for 3 years. On multiple occasions, Aminu pumped and took his defender to the rack and either got fouled or scored. That is clear progress. Yes, Aminu is miles away from perfect, but this small step in the right direction could mean something for the Pelicans future.

How is that a problem? He plays inside and doesn't take the shots. We don't give him the ball on the perimeter. As far as i'm concerned, ryno plays outside like a SF would on our offense and Aminu is a scrapping PF on offense. Ryno allows us to still play a traditional 3 out - 2 offense, so it's not a problem at all.

On defense, he plays the 3.

I saw Aminu miss that one open shot toward the end of the 4th quarter. It was a wide open shot and, honestly, not a bad one to take, although we had a fresh shot clock and probably should have milked it more.

Otherwise, he drove to the rim. That and put backs should be his offensive game. The dude is becoming a better than average defender and a beast rebounder. He scraps for the ball. In spite of his occasional cringe worthy moments, he's a real contributor.

That was piss poor shot selection but that was the only significant aminu miscue. He has been playing well the last few games.

Amninus defense has been fun to watch lately. His own ball defense is fine but his off ball/helpside rotation has been money. He's not getting lost nearly as much and is there for back side help almost every time he's suppose to. He's dropping to low block on rotation when someone goes to help baseline drives and takes away the easy pass layup in doing so.

Last few games I've been clapping like an a-hole for him on defense. He's been so good and i really hope he keeps the smart play going.

Hopefully it's different this time, but we've seen him play well in spurts and then get so bad you have to bring in DLeaguers to remotivate him.
