A beef with Canada

It is obvious when Etling has to check down the pocket folds. This is a product of a young and weekly makeshift offensive line.
The plays called with an immediate throw work best. Let's see more of them! Quickie pass slants to our tall receivers have to work. Plays that take time are not effective for this Offense.

Ftr I think these are in the works for Bama. Look at our production against Auburn. He found ways to get the WRs involved when we needed it.
Obviously didn’t need to last night so he didn’t.

You haven’t seen us try and run screens the past two games? Good grief. We’ve tried with F-Backs and both DW28 and DG5. Rewatch the AU and OM games brah.

Agree 100 per cent but listening to Jacob Hester last night, he says that that type of pass is not Etling's forte. Don't know why it would be so hard to pass that type but that is what Hester said on the post game last night when asked the same question.

we will need screens against bama blitz. we could use some 3 step drops.
canada does great stretching field horizontally in the run game. problem is we have no consistent vertical pass game so i expect bama not to load box(they still might though) as that only guarantees stops between tackles. i expect them to move people up all across the LOS to stop outside edge runs and of course inside runs. forcing us to go vertical to hang with them. Canada is severely handicapped with this QB,line and receivers. bama can keep 7 in box and have 4 guys on edges(2 on each side)all within 5 yards of the LOS. maybe 10 max. only way to get them off the LOS is going vertical and it has to be done consistently.

I didn't see the Auburn game and I guess I'll have to re watch the Ole Miss game.

One of them was on a play where the ball was supposed to go to a WR near the sideline. The 2 WRs ran into each other, and it wasn't really clear which the ball was going to, as Etling had to throw it away.
On that play, Darrel Williams was wide open on the other side.
That looked like an "immediate pass", with no progressions or options. Had there been options, Etling would have seen the mess with the WRs, looked at Williams and probably threw a TD.
I think this is an example of why we don't see more plays like that.

I had one of the best streaks I ever ate in Ottawa. Canadian beef is money.

Does everyone remember bubble screens?
Pepperidge Farm does.

and tunnel screens which jimbo was a master at!
even they may not work if bama puts people up all across the LOS to stop all outside and inside stuff. the intermediate and deep passes will be there if we can beat them in man and execute.

Yes, but very little short throws to the WR's. We need more of that because of the combination of poor pass blocking and Etling holding on to the damn ball too long.
