In contrast to the last 2 coaches.....

A SEC Championship within the first 5 years.
A National championship within the first 5 years.
Recruiting ranked in the top 10 almost every year.
Recruiting even at number 1 once or twice.
A packed stadium into the 4th quarter.
Never worse than a 7-5 season.
Always make a post-season bowl appearance.

If we don't start to sense a few of these on the horizon, then firing Miles was a mistake.

No, CLM was trending down his last years it was time to go. That said if CEO is not in place to win the SEC in 3 years he needs to go. Agree with the 7-5 season.

I agree with trending upward or downward. That being said, we might feel a UA-Birmingham kind of year in 2017.

But we should be able to feel progress or lack of very quickly.

With those standards I wouldn't say firing Miles was a mistake because he had not reached many of those in the last 5 years. If we don't reach them in the next 5 the hire was the mistake

Every SEC coach that has hit the bullets that matter this century has done so within the first 3 years at his school though. The ones that don't continue hitting around what they hit in their first 3 throughout.

Richt at UGA
Saban at LSU
Urban at UF
Miles at LSU
Saban at UA
Chizik at AU
Malzahn at AU

^ All won SECC within 3

Tubberville is the exception, only coach with an SECC this century whose first was beyond years 3 (5th.) He won the west in year 2 though

The ones that didn't in 3 (minus Tubbs) never did in 4 or 5 either. Like Hugh Freeze and Butch Jones who their fans thought might win big after a promising year 2. When the hype was at its highest in year 3 they came up short, and it was obvious after 4 that that's all they were.

You know what you got after 3, so if you want more no reason to wait too long. If your ok with what you got ride it out

Spoken like a life long Louisiana MA.

Raise your standards, why don't you.

How bout never worse than 9-3 minimum.

SEC West/SEC Championship every 2-3 years shouldn't be out of reach. Just recruit bigger, stronger and smarter OL's nationally and that can easily be accomplished. (The Bama Plan)

Settling for 8 wins, give or take one, is a mistake. I'd rather take a chance and try something new that live with mediocrity.

I argued that we should be careful what we were asking for because it had to go either of two ways better or worse. Jury is still out but it doesn't look good.

I am more than willing to accept taking a risk and it not working out rather than be definitely mediocre. That's just me. I take risks. Sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't. The jury IS still out. It can't look like anything bc we've played 4 games. I think the end of the season will be indicative of where we are going as a team.

If you like the prospect of a national title, then firing Miles was definitely not a mistake.

Miles won 2 SEC titles in 11 years so every 2-3 years isn't keeping with the standard at all. I don't get why all these posters are giving this dishonest account of the expectations Miles was held to. He didn't win 10 games every season (won 10 games 7 of 11+ years) he wasn't expected to win the west or the conference every year like people are saying. I guess when you have an agenda to it doesn't matter if you're telling the truth or not.

some just do not have a sense of reality...
