Buying cleats on eBay

Any of you buy cleats off eBay? I was looking some for my son that are normally around 180, but found some on eBay for 139 plus 15 shipping.

The seller had a great rating on there, but I'm always worried about knock-offs. If he was selling cheap imitations, wouldn't that be evident by his feedback?
Oh, and Wolves finna eat tonight against Bristol City.

How old is he?
$100 for boots on a kid is way to much. Especially with how fast they burn through them at that age, you need something tough and durable. Those expensive ones are for older high level players and those guys go through them fast as hell bc they way they are built isn't to last as long.

He's 16. Normally, I don't go that much for cleats, but I'm thinking about it this one time. He's in three leagues at a fairly high level, as well as high school.

Three leagues he should have about 3-4 pairs on hand already
He can still get the cool looking boots but just don't get top level boot that's expensive.
You can get the 2nd tier of most boots for like 100-130. Look at amazon or pro soccer direct

Also check Third Coast Soccer. They price match I think and are a great local shop!

Not necessarily. Oftentimes, people will open their complaints with the platform they used to make the payment (such as PayPal or their credit card company) and not with eBay.

Better to buy a couple of pair over time at that age. As mentioned, the second tier models are more affordable. My son plays in the same number of leagues, and you'll need backups from sloppy field conditions. He's hard on his cleats, and the second and third tier models have always held up to be hand-me-downs to other kids. It's easier to go to a brick and mortar store and let the kid try on and pick out a pair (in a previously explained price range.)
I've just gone through this process with my kid. He'd find some cool pair of cleats, and come to find out they're a limited edition run of 300 pairs and cost $3,000. I always found a pair on Ebay that said "from same factory in Hungary. Same boot for you money." Having said all of that... I've had great luck buying used cleats online for my kids when they were younger. Not so much luck now that they are wearing more popular sizes.
My kids are lucky that I spare him the stories of digging through the boxes of old cleats in the fieldhouse at school, grabbing a pair of old high-top Pony football cleats and taking a hacksaw to the front cleat to make it legal.
