It looks like they're holding the wsop in a homeless shelter. Posted on The OT because poker is not a sport.

Great question. It's definitely not because they make their living gambling in casinos.

Because most of the folks in a homeless shelter probably lost whatever they had left playing poker.

Because anyone willing to gamble money on a consistent basis usually isn't a standup guy

The world is fricking turning to shite
The Earth don't stand a chance
Hurricane Typhoon will destroy the city
We got to clean up the skies and recycle
We got to stop the over-population
But most important of all
We got to build a Deth Starr

These degenerates probably have 5-10% at the most that they actually put up to enter. They have backers.

A few reasons for dress code:

It is cold AF in the Rio.

They want to be comfortable. It is a 10 to 12 hour day of intellectual competition.
If you make a tiny mistake, it can cost you dearly. Comfort and eating right, massages, etc help.

Normally TV cameras don't fund you the first few days. Unless you are playing with some famous pro like Negranu or Hellmuth.

Also, if you are sitting next to some d bag that won't shut up you want headphones.

There are more backers in this event than any other, but also you can satellite into it for as little as like 100$. A ton of local leagues send winners to play the main, and a ton of people pony up every year.

Top 15% pays out now so it isn't unheard of to min cash often enough to break even on a few years even without going super deep.

7000 ish players this year x 10k is a pretty sweet prize pool no matter how it happens.
