I posted here about buying my dad a rod n reel as retirement present, but I decided to take him tuna fishing instead. We are going out with Paradise Outfitters in Venice on June 10th. Has anyone had any experience with them and that time of year?

UPDATE:
My dad had no idea this was happening and we surprised him very well when me and my brother and his two best friends showed up at the marina. He thought he was going on a corporate trip with one of his clients. The trip was awesome and he had the time of his life.

Unfortunately, we left without a tuna. He hooked one and put up a fight, but with so many boats out there at Medusa the line got caught on another boat and popped. Our captain (Geoffrey) was trying to put us on the fish all day. He did an awesome job. I could hear all the other captains on the radio frustrated and searching hard for tuna. Everyone was having the same problem. This is my first trip that the tuna weren't biting. We eventually made our way to catch some snapper and limited out. My dad also caught a small Mahi.

Picture from trip (don't worry, our heads are fine lol)

They have been posting some nice catches on their social media pages. We are going with them the weekend after y'all. Luckily the snapper season is open for guides so we are hoping to make a meat haul.

I saw they have been catching some Swordfish lately too. I'd love to catch one of those. How do those guys rank out of the other charters that go out of Venice? Just curious.

It's definitely costing me an arm and a leg, but that is nothing compared to what I have cost him. Well deserved. Looking to have a great time. Praying to the weather Gods though.

We went on June 3rd last year with them and caught 13 yellowfin before 9:00 am between 50-80 lbs. we tried for swords until noon and headed in to catch our snapper. We were back at the marina with fish cleaned at 3 pm. It was unbelievable! I brought home 70 lbs of tuna steaks.

Definitely top tier. One of the best IMO

If there are fish to be caught, they will put you on them. Sword bite has been hot lately too. We lost 2 last weekend

We are going with Paradise this weekend as well. Hopefully they can find a few tuna between now and Saturday. How did the other boats do? I think we are going with Capt. Hunter on the 41ft cat they just got. I know there will be lots of beer consumed regardless of the fish!

Hunter is great. Thats the black boat, right? It seemed that no one was catching. Not just Paradise but all of the other boats were having trouble. Hunter wasn't running his black boat, but another capt. was, and they also didn't bring in a tuna. I highly suggest getting to the boat earlier than 5:45 and being on the water before the other boats. If Hunter can locate the bait quickly, and yall get out there before everyone else, then you should at least catch one or two. We had a little trouble catching the guppies. They were farther out than usual. Spent more time than we usually do. I believe that was our downfall.
