Tax question... I didn't receive a 1099 from a client...

when I should have. I don't know if it was lost in the mail, or they just didn't send one and I haven't been able to get in touch with the accountant. Should I go ahead and put this income in the 1099 section or "additional income" on my return?

It probably doesn't matter as long as you just include it. If you were paid, it doesn't matter if you get a 1099 you have to claim it. 1099s are only needed for $600 or greater jobs, so there's some people that do a bunch of $500 jobs and aren't 1099 at all.
Generally the IRS doesn't care if it's completely accurate as long as you try to be honest.

I had ~$25K of 1099 income in 2016 and didn't get one either. I wasn't going to report but my CPA made me

Your CPA didn't make you.....you could either do it now or pay it later when the other companies books showed it.

It's actually an interesting situation. Let's just say that the company's owner (who ran everything) is in no condition to be sending out 1099s It's possible that the business gets shut down, and I'm not sure how that works (does someone check the books and shite when that happens?). I figured it was a worthwhile gamble but my CPA got the amount way down and I had wayyyy oversaved to begin with, so I'm fine with it.
