While they do own a win over LSU, no way McNeese will be a No. 2 seed coming out of the Southland Conference.

National seed

This team is not playing like a national seed right now.
Last year, national seeds had between 12 and 18 losses on the season. Granted, last year there were not as many clear-cut national seeds, but right now we're on pace for a 37-19 regular season with an 18-12 SEC record. Last year we got a national seed, excluding the SECT, with a 39-17 regular season record and 19-11 SEC record. We certainly have our work ahead of us, but it's not out of the question at all. Also worth mentioning that after 4 SEC series last year, we were 21-10 overall and 6-6 in the conference.

Thing is, neither is anyone else. There are no great teams anymore...just a bunch of pretty good teams. None of this "seeding" stuff means as much as it used to. Yes, it can help you get home games, but even that hasn't proven to help much the last few years...and not just talking about LSU either. Parity is here, like it or not. Anyone can beat anyone, anywhere, in June. Just ask Coastal Carolina.
A part of me misses the days when there were "super-teams" that everyone was chasing, probably because LSU was one of them. But think of the schools that were there all the time, like Miami, Texas, Wichita State, Fullerton State, Oklahoma State, etc. Those programs had an aura about them and everyone was just trying to get to where they were.
We don't realize how lucky we are to still be as highly regarded as we are in baseball after all this time. Some of the teams I listed above haven't sniffed relevance in years. The greats have stepped back, the little guys have gotten stronger, and everyone has met in the middle, thus the parity.

At this point it is not out of the question the SEC will not have any national seeds as well. One saving grace is the NCAA likes our attendance numbers. Bigger stadiums have a bigger chance...not fair but that has always been the case.

What about Auburn? Their fans have been pontificating all season about their team as if they're G*ds gift to baseball.

As awesome as that would be, it is a hell of a stretch.
Then again, we are only 1 RPI slot below LSU (LSU 21, McNeese 22), so I don't know what's worse...being the #2 seed in a regional to the team you are right behind in RPI...or being the #1 seed and a national seed, and having the team right behind you as your #2.
Either way, beating LSU in Alex Box to advance to a Super Regional would be difficult, let alone deal with 2 other schools.
If McNeese finishes Top 30 in RPI and wins the Southland, I see a 3 Seed at best. But a 2 seed would be awesome.

They have a crystal ball or something?
I'm surprised a college baseball expert like you doesn't know that.

Do you enjoy football more now that everyone is chasing Bama?

Doesn't take an expert to realize Maneiri is overrated

As much as I love LSU Baseball, it's obvious this team is not a National Seed. If they are, the field is really down this season. It's the most Jekyll and Hyde baseball team I've ever seen. They better do a complete 180 if they want to get out of their Regional, much less getting to Omaha.
