Tom Crean made more than $3M annually at IU

Do you think LSU will pay him $3M?
Do you think he would be satisfied at $2M?
No.
So let's move on from that idea, and agree that it's better to lure a good coach by pay them more than their current salary. Someone like Steve Prohm who is at $1.5M, and to whom $2M might look good.

He was just fired. You didn't know that?

He's going to be satisfied anywhere he finds a job, and I can promise you wherever that is will not be paying him 3 million

Ask anyone with experience in hiring executives and they will tell you that once their talent has been valued at X, they are likely to feel they are being devalued at less. Essentially they will hold an internal grudge that you are paying them less than they are worth.
The up-and-comer however is appreciative of the boost in salary and incented to work harder for that reward. I prefer the coach who is on the upward trajectory rather than the downward track.

Could be wrong, but I believe Prohm has a substantial buyout.

Hope he goes somewhere else...

I would assume Indiana is on the hook for some of his salary so we could hire him for less.

Exactly what I remember Jimmy Ott saying. I believe he also said that Prohm has the same agent that Iowa St.'s AD has.

Indiana: 166–135 (.551) 71–91 (.438)

For context, 138-61 (.693) and 63-45 (.583) after IU's probation ended.

Crean is the best candidate for this job unless Drew wants it. If you disagree you're dumb

Do you think Alleva will even offer $2M to someone?

He is also getting a 4mil buyout... So the fact that he got fired, plus IU will e paying him over the next however many years means you can likely get him for less than his past compensation.
