In honour of Celtic

quote:

Spanish club Real Betis are to wear green and white hoops in honour of Celtic in a one-off game to mark their origins.

The Seville outfit were founded 110 years ago and usually play in green and white stripes.

But they will revert to hoops for one game later this month against Malaga to mark Andalusia Day - a day of celebration marking the region voting to become an autonomous community of Spain in 1980.

And they have chosen to wear Celtic's famous hoops to mark their beginnings.

It´s a nice gesture, don´t know why, except for the similarities in colors.

Both Celtic and Rangers are well regarded groups in Seville.

Looking at one of their fan sites, their founder lived in Glasgow for a bit when Betis was a club who played in light blue (possibly before it was Real Betis). He attended Celtic matches and, when he was ready to return to Spain, the club gave him material for new kits for his club.
