AD position

Why is this position akin to being nominated to the Supreme Court? Joe Dean was an incompetent boob who "kept us out of the red" and caused us to lose thousands in a Title IX suit, but was able to keep his position until he decided to retire. Skip was good but also able to stay indefinitely. Now I fear that Alleva, who was much younger than either as AD, will drive the thing into the mud and remain here until he wants to leave. I know people say this hire will determine his future here, but remember that's Dean hired Curley and kept his job.
