I don't think their prices were terrible. In line with their new releases, I thought. I just don't see why Apple doesn't make a touch screen MacBook Pro?!

No need for that silly touch bar really if you have a whole screen to use. Or combine both but why does Apple not do a touch screen? Literally EVERY other computer maker has at least 1 model that's touchable but Apple.

So I pre-ordered the 13" MBP with Touch Bar and $512 GB storage for $1499 ($500 off) after coming across this thread on Macrumors - LINK

Really hoping Amazon honors the order and doesn't cancel it on me.

Federighi added that it's awkward and uncomfortable to sit at a desk and continuously reach forward to touch a computer screen. It's not like an iPad or iPhone that you hold in your hands and use in a "very relaxed position."

"We've really focused on building the best track pads we can, something where it feels [like] your posture's relaxed, it's a comfortable machine to use," he said. "And, of course, over the years we've experimented with all the technology, but we found it just wasn't good. ... We're not all that interested in building one."

They should let the consumer decide that.

Well, valid argument, I guess. I actually think a "MacBook Flip" (clearly I made that up) would be awesome. Imagine it similar to the MS SurfaceBook but instead of that fulcrum hinge on the MS SB, it would fold 360degrees and turn from a laptop to an ipad and then fold back into a laptop... AND have a touch screen.

It'd be a new product and one that business professionals could use for work and play.

Isn't the consumer deciding that when they choose to buy an Apple MacBook Pro versus a Microsoft Surface?

No, they shouldn't. They didn't go from 90 days till bankruptcy to the largest publicly held company in history within the span of 16 years by letting the consumer decide.

honestly can't see the touch bar being useful among everyday tasks tbh. my first impression is meh, feels gimmicky and seems like a swing and miss.

will reserve final judgment until i play around with one first though. certainly doesn't make me want to go out and buy one.
