Headed there in November/December. Never been to any of the Carib Islands so not really sure what to expect other than to get Zika of course.

Any must do's from anyone that's been or things to avoid/safety tips etc...

The nicest people on earth and I actually mean that. As far as places to stay away from, just use your common sense honestly. There isn't much crime but every place in the world has assholes that do dumb stuff everywhere.
Top places to visit:
Grand Anse Beach
St. George's Market Square
Fort Frederick
Fort George
Grand Etang National Park
Annandale Falls
The local beer is Carib and is actually pretty good. The local rum is Clarks Court. The rum isn't like American rum and the Clarks Court white rum (its actually clear) is some strong stuff so be careful.
Enjoy your trip befriend some locals or some of the students at the college and get some insider tips.

Did you do any kind of boating/snorkeling while there?

DO NOT pick a fight with the Gringos.

The 1st & 2nd Rangers & the 82nd Airborne will be there before you know it.

Seriously, what was suggested above and if your schedule will allow it, try to get to two outlying islands: Carriacou and Petit Martinique

I haven't been to them but was told I need to get there.

Always makes me think of the SNL spot where the little boy sees a poster about Grenada In a window (travel agency?) and asked his dad what it is. Dad gets all misty and reflective.

A voiceover spiel starts for the Time Life series of books on the war in Grenada, with each one covering about a minute. You get one a month for a few years at bout $19.95 each.
