Planning to do so out of Old River.
Going to use turkey necks for bait.
Any other recommendations?

Just going with my gut and I could be wrong. Turkey necks never did well for me crabbing. No matter where I was. Best bait is fish scraps.

Ok I wasn't going to chime in until I read that turkey necks didn't work for you. They are all we use 90% of the time. They last and crabs can't rip them off and they stay oily. Fish scraps work as well, but they tend to attract sharks at times. Have had them run with a net in their mouth before and finding the float was useless. We made a trip last sunday and caught a hamper in 3 hours on turkey necks.

If you are on Old River, try around the Perdido Key state park right where the houses on Perdido Key end.

A few years ago we crabbed behind orange beach close to ono and we caught maybe 4 dozen, but they were all females, but nice size. Also for every one you caught you threw back 2 females with egg sacks

When yall go crabbing in G. Shores or Perdido and are visiting from out of state. Do you buy a non-resident 3 day salt water fishing license? If no have you been approached by Green Jeans?

If you shite in the traps you don't need a license
