Compare that depressing video on North Korean oppression with how awesome South Korea is with two video headlines about dudes making tons of money by eating dinner on webcam.

You have to get permission from the gov't to own a computer and then you have to register it with the police.

Holy shite.

North Korea is as statist and authoritarian as you can get.

Fascinating. One of the last strongholds of soviet style socialism. Would be fun to take a few random citizens and drop them in the middle of Manhattan for a week.

If a North Korean citizen would get out of the country and go to somewhere.. let's say America, they would probably have a difficult time adjusting. NK is a fricked up place.

Many Soviet Bloc nations were in that shape before the wall fell. I've talked to people who traveled there and how there were approved areas for visitors, but outside the approved areas it was like going back to 1930.

If we had small cams back in 1970, most Soviet bloc nations would have looked similar to us.

It's nothing earth shattering. Limited sites, only a few people have computers, they have to have government approval to own, etc.

It's not just that, it's the whole cult of personality and mass brainwashing by the government of the people. It's truly staggering.

Damn, they must think there's hardly anything beyond there own little world. Think I'm going to look for a documentary someone recommended, A State of Mind.

Yeah, the infatuation with the pudgy little guy with the weird haircut is bizarre. But the ideology and brainwashing are similar to the Soviet bloc nations.

It couldn't be anybody from Pyongyang as I feel like the transition would be easier.

It would be have to be people from outside of that place.

Also, I read that a typical North Korean just can't up and go move into Pyongyang, they have to be approved by the gov't to live in the city and be assigned to a specific part of town, neighborhood and building. Imagine that, a city for the elites of the country. That kind of central planning gives Lenin and Stalin huge boners and wet dreams.
