Are they endangered in AK like they are here in LA? I know we have crossing signs on hwy90 around Morgan Shitty. I'm sure there are others as well.
Any hoot, I remember reading about a driver smoking one :/

Im pretty sure they are actually a nuisance. That is an awesome video though. It's nice to see something natural and pure like a mother protecting it's young. It makes you wonder what happened to humans along the way that so many just do not care about the well being of their offspring.

I guess humans could learn something from other mammals on occasion.

Black bears and brown bears are not endangered in Alaska, but you don't see them in the cities all that often. The best place to find black bears there is feeding on clover along the rural highways. We saw quite a few doing that on the Alaska Highway.
This is a brown bear family we saw outside Haines 5 years ago. Much less crowded spot than Anchorage but still some traffic.

Awesome. Why are animals better parents than people?

Easy.....animals use common sense.

I think Juneau is the exception. They are everywhere here. Not sure of the numbers, but the bear population here is extremely healthy and garbage is an easy target.

My mom used to snatch me up the same way.

You could see him talking back when they finally made it across.

Cubs are feisty little things. Sows will often make them go up a tree to get them out of her care for a bit while she's fishing or looking for food.
