Force Awakens score

I have to give John Williams huge props for this. I was laughing when I first heard that it would be eligible for Oscar consideration, just because I figure it would be too derivative, but he really has taken the touchstone elements of the original score and then expanded upon them seamlessly. Rey's Theme is just a joy to listen to, and the x-wing scherzo is equally fun.

I thought it was established weeks ago that Star Wars The Force Awakens wasn't going to be submitted for Oscar consideration.

Duel of the Fates is still my favorite all time besides of course the Imperial March.
Duel of the Fates was one of the only things they go correct in the prequels and that is bc John Williams is an Fing genius.

Rey's theme is pretty good.
The Jedi Steps is as good to me as anything he has ever written for Star Wars. It is amazing.
Some of the rest is meh.

Not sure if I was too focused on dialogue or what, but this was the first time in the saga where the score did not feel like a character to me. I definitely recognized the call back cues with Leia and Han, but there just didn't seem to be anything memorable about the score.
