As much as Harris can't seem to throw a short pass, I blame the coaching staff for this. By running 75% of the time and for the other 25% throwing just deep balls for the most part, there is no way for BH to replicate practice reps to a game situation. We had 7 games to do this, but yet we didn't prepare him well at all in my opinion.

Les doesn't practice things in game, he just tries to win without having foresight on future weeks

Alabama averages almost 6-4, 313.2 pounds in its three-man front and its four starting linebackers average 6-2¼ and 246.5 pounds.

If you take this fact, then think of the last teams that beat Bama or had any success running the ball, you would easily come to the conclusion that spreading them out would at least cause Nick to make a decision.
Do I keep my girth in and risk a mismatch to stop LF or do I add DB's?

The funny thing is we have at times this year ran a spread with Harris in the shotgun with success. I would argue that Harris's comfort level and confidence even changes on the short pass's when he's in the shotgun.

What is also Bama's weakness is a hurry up offence, which again we practiced at times this year with success, and I don't want to hear that a hurry up offence would have kept our defense on the field because that was definitely accomplished on the three on outs all night long.
