I haven't played since the shutdown of Full Tilt. Are there any safe places to play, talking small time $$.?
Any legislation to legalize it ?

There are like 3-4 places to play if you're an American. Bovada, America's Cardroom, Black Chip Poker, and there's another I can't think of.

Or you could move to Afghanistan and play poker online legally.

I imagine the main motivation has to be a tax issue.

If you want to play in america, play on bovada/bodog.

Don't play on Carbon poker. They used to be legit, now it takes like 14 weeks to get your money.

Actually a funny story about that. I won about 1200 bucks on Carbon from December-March. Decided to cash out with the only option which was a check on March 1st.

Constantly berated them after their listed time of 3-5 weeks was up and it was 8 weeks. I was messaging their support system, emailing every day, raising hell.

Eventually on June 25th, got an email, actually let me copy and paste it here because it is too hilarious to explain.

quote:

We refer to your account and are pleased to provide you with the tracking number for your withdrawal Trans ID XXXXXX

WesternUnion Tracking Number is: XXXXXXX
Sender: Cesar Augusto Zamora Rodriguez
Sender's location: Managua, Nicaragua.

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION – If you are asked DO NOT under any circumstances mention that the funds are gambling related. This will prevent the money from being released to you. On occasion tellers may request additional information about the sender before releasing the funds. If asked, inform the teller you did not bring that information and that you will come back later; and contact us so that we may provide the necessary information.

If you have any questions regarding this or any other matter do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,
The Withdrawals Department

Basically I got a fricking Western Union transfer from Nicaragua, and was told not to mention to the teller they were gambling related, nor was I to provide information about the sender.

I have another pending withdrawal after I immediately cleared the rest of my account on July 1st. So that's been 12 weeks. Still no updates.

Basically, don't play on anything besides bodog/bovada in the US.

Playing online in the states is dead. Only place to play presently is Vegas on WSOP.com. It's true you can play on the sites listed above, but if you aren't cheating you aren't trying, right? I'm not saying it's rigged with bots and trust me I've played enough live hands to see every bad beat in the book. I understand variance. If you had the balls to own a website that facilitated illegal activity would you make a stance on being ethical? Personally, I won't touch those sites I'll leave it at that. We really need to make a push to legalize online poker in at least a few more states, i.e. NJ, LA.
