Their latest album just released. Thoughts?
I've enjoyed mostly all of Muse's work (despite the weird as frick lyrics at times), and I appreciate them experimenting with different stuff.
I loved Psycho (especially that rift) and The Globalist the most from this album.

I am 4 songs in, and I finally heard one that is good. How far this once great band has fallen! The first song is just bland synth pop, and the second (which coincidentally is the one you like... sorry) sounds like, when you remove the vocals, NICKELMOTHERfrickINGBACK!!! Ugh. They have become a stale act. Maybe the rest of this album will win me over, but so far I am ready to put this into the one and done stack.

They peaked with Absolution; all down hill since. Sad.

Butterflies and Hurricanes is one of the all time great songs! But I disagree with your assessment; Black Holes and Revelations was pretty damn good as well. Resistance was tight, but saw the first sign of decline. The last one was not very good, and this one is as bland as can be. The only exception to this is the song "Revolt". It is the one legitimately great track on the new album.
The main problem with them now is he lost all vocal creativity. You can cut his vocals out of any song of the last 2 CDs and paste it into any of the others and never miss a beat. It's so boring.

There were definitely some good tunes on BH&R but the song Supermassive Blackhole marked the beginning of the crap they do today and that's why I believe their run of brilliance ended with Absolution.
