People are acting like this WF game is a schedule step up.
WF lost in the first round of the ACCt.
Sagarin ratings before the tournaments:
NC State was #26
LSU was #49
NIT quarterfinal losers from last night
regular season champs of their conferences
Murray was 58
La Tech was 79
Wake was rated #122 by Sagarin at the end of the regular season.
I just hate to think that WF represents where LSU is at.
Why not schedule Wichita or Northern Iowa for home and home?
TD posters were going on and on before the SECt how LSU was ready to make the jump to national elite contender next season.
OK. schedule some non-Big5 "powers" in the coming years.
Bring in Murray, Belmont, Wichita, Northern Iowa, VCU and ODU.
Not all of them every year, but a couple. All of them are better than Wake. #122.
What is the football equivalent? Since there are more D-1 basketball schools, #80 in football is like #122 in basketball.
Many of the teams in the high 70's and low 80's in football had losing records.
by coincidence Wake Forest had a losing record in basketball. 13-18.
hoo ah.

I would love to see LSU play Kansas in Lawrence.
Actually they did in November of '89. Shaq, Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts lost to the Jayhawks in the 2nd round of the pre-season NIT.
As for the coming season, the Tigers will play a Big 12 team at home as they went on the road this past season and defeated WVU, which of course, the 'Cats go up against tonight.

They lost this pre-season NIT game to Kansas at the PMAC (not in Lawrence). We were #2 in the country at the time.

and then that KU team beat #1 UNLV at MSG the next round.

Wake Forest isn't good anymore but it's a step in the right direction. I'd rahter them than Directional State. It's easier to put together a good OOC schedule when you're team is projected to be very good. ESPN steps up and sets up a lot of those big OOC games for TV. So I expect LSU to add a couple of good names to the schedule.
