in my experience, your best bet is to hire a guide for a day...tell him what you are looking for and most of them will give you a lot of tips and pointers to get you going...
they typically won't show you their best spots, but they will give you enough info to do some fishing on your own...
I have had them allow me to take a gps in the boat to mark spots before...

Offats Bayou is a good wade fishing spot in Galveston. It's gotta real deep hole that flounder stack up in.

We always went to Surfside which is west of Galveston. Watch for a north wind and always check the surf, if it's clear and not too rough there are a lot of trout there.
Anywhere down the Blue Water highway Christmas bay is on one side and the surf the other. There's a couple of ramps you can park at in the bay and just walk out and start fishing.
We used to put a live shrimp two feet under a popping cork and catch reds, trout and flounder. Tidal movement is your friend, so watch that too.

Do you own a boat? I don't really get into wade fishing until the surf turns on in July.

Start following swellinfo.com for size of swells.
When the surf is on it doesn't get much better than surf side.

I've done some wading in Rollover Bay on the Bolivar Peninsula. There's good fishing all along the bay side of Bolivar but Rollover Pass and Rollover Bay are especially good.
Miss Nancy ' s bait camp is right there. You can call or check out the Facebook page to see if people are catching anything before you go.

Grass beds on North side of west bay west side of greens cut. Need a boat though. I have fished a tourney with a guide George knighten who is a wading specialist and we waded the area I told you about and i fish west bay often with a buddy who has a place in jamaica beach. Call George. Or get on 2coolfishing.com and maybe ask for a good guide Rec there. It's the best board for all things outdoors on the Texas coAst by far.
