Is there an album with a better opening than In Through the Out Door?

In the Evening. Just grabs you by the throat and takes you for a ride. Too bad the rest of the album sucks.

Yep.
And, just off the top of my head, I'd say "Statesboro Blues" from the Allman Bros.' "At Fillmore East".

"Don't Want You Know More/It's Not My Cross To Bear" From........
Not only an opening for the album, but an introduction to the band.

Not even the best LZ opener IMO.
Good Times Bad Times
Whole Lotta Love
Immigrant Song
Black Dog
Song Remains the Same
Custard Pie
Achilles Last Stand
In the Evening
We're Gonna Grove
On a list that looks more like a "greatest hits" than a "best openers" it pales in comparison to the rest.
My Order:
Achilles
SRTS
Black Dog
Immigrant
Custard
Good Times Bad Times
Whole Lotta Love
ITT
WGG
Achilles is tough to beat...but I'm a drummer and a huge Bonham fan so there's that

The lead in to In the Evening is long and builds and considering how long it had been since last LZ album, I thought that was a perfectly dramatic intro.

The first 8 on DBT's Brighter Than Creation's Dark, then Patterson just goes and ruins it for everyone

Fool in the Rain definitely sucks.

This. But then again, I pretty much lose interest after IV.

Physical Graffiti is easily their best work. Maybe b/c II & IV are so overplayed.
