Do you need a loan with a 36% interest rate annually?

Are you an LSU student? Are you registered and setup on their career services website?

You should be able to find out about opportunities through your school. Companies typically recruit certain schools through their career center.

(a) have a really high GPA
(b) know someone with hiring authority
(c) be a racial minority and/or female, hopefully both
(d) all of the above

Fwiw, these jobs are almost all filled VERY early in the Fall semester for the following summer, so if you're looking for a job in a few months you are likely WAY too late. Very different from the timing when I was in school and we would be interviewing about now for summer jobs.

Everything comes easier after the first internship. I ended up with one that didn't pay but was "great experience"... At least on my resume it was.

Connections, connections, connections.

If you're in PETE you better have a very close connection to someone in the industry. That's the only way I could see getting an internship in this climate. Or just go knock on doors in Broussard and tell them you want to work for free for the summer.

times have changed. I made $15/hour at the DOT when I was college and one summer working about the same at a design firm.

It was really easy, you could pick where you wanted to work/live.

I got an internship by going to the career fair. What's your major?
