So because Muschamp proved to be a good DC then Smart will prove to be a good DC?
They both learned from the best. Worth a shot.

the biggest upgrade would be recruiting. Chavis didn't do much, I think Smart would do a lot.

Lean towards Smart because he's younger, but it's almost an even swap.

I think so, my Bama friends talk good about Kirby Smart, but my Tennessee friends don't hold high regard for John Chavis.

Yes. I don't think Smart is all that great but Chavis was so overrated it ain't funny

Recruiting upgrade? Absolutely.
Scheme? Time will tell.
But I'm willing to take a chance since as a defensive coordinator, Alabama was ranked in the top-5 defensively in six of the last seven years.

slight, but upgrade still

I think it would be about the same...which makes it a very good hire.
And, you would gain something from a recruiting standpoint.

No one can answer that question honestly. I like the fact that he is younger and seems more fiery, he's coached under one of the best in the business. Only time will tell, if he actually ends up with us.

Absolute upgrade, especially on the recruiting front.

Ask Brick to leave and hire O.
so brick is supposed to say sure, i'll give up my job just cause you asked me to. and o says sure i'll come to LSU and be the new DL coach just cause you asked me to.
you seem to have a distorted idea of how the world works.

So Muschamp wasn't a good DC then?
maybe at auburn or texas but under saban at lsu it was nick's defense. don't kid yourself son.

As far as DC's who can recruit, Kirby Smart is very active (especially in Ga & AL) and has closed the deal on a lot of studs.
As DC, from 2008 to 2014,
-He's recruited 84 total prospects
-Got 34 to sign with Bama,
-6 of them were Five stars,
-22 of them Four stars
-6 of them were Three stars
Biggest Hits: Courtney Upshaw, Dee Milner, Blake Sims, Rueben Foster, OJ Howard, Marlon Humphrey, Rashaan Evans
Biggest Misses: Dee Finley, Greg Reid, Isaiah Crowell, Robert Nkemdiche
Whereas, in comparison to John Chavis at LSU from 2009 to 2014:
-He's only actively recruited 28 total prospects
-Got 9 to sign with LSU,
-1 of them a Five star,
-6 of them Four stars
-2 of them were Three stars
Biggest hits: Taj Jones, Beckwith, Herron, Clifton Garrett
Biggest Misses: Cassius Marsh, Noah Spence, Da'Shawn Hand
