Season begins on Friday, March 6
Reminder about how this year's schedule (and how much better this is for MLS)
(Point of order: I thought they said ALL of the games would be on WatchESPN... Am I imagining that?)

The 2015 season marks the first of an eight-year television and media rights partnership with ESPN, FOX Sports and Univision that will feature a Univision game of the week on Friday nights and an ESPN and FOX Sports double-header nearly every Sunday all season.
Univision’s games – primarily on UniMás - will be available in Spanish and English both on television and live streamed on the Univision Deportes app.
Sunday’s doubleheaders on ESPN and FOX Sports networks will showcase back-to-back MLS matches at 5 pm and 7 pm ET, respectively. Both ESPN and FOX Sports will simulcast their games on their Spanish-language networks (ESPN Deportes, FOX Deportes) and their authenticated digital offerings (Watch ESPN, FOX Sports GO).

Non-national TV games will be played on Saturdays, with intermittent mid-week matches, and will be broadcast locally and/or via a subscription to a digital out-of-market package.

In addition to the flex scheduling option in week 33 of the season, the last day of the 2015 regular season will see MLS unveil its new “Decision Day” scheduling format.
All five games in the Eastern Conference will be played concurrently on Sunday, October 25 at 5 pm ET, with one game airing on FOX Sports 1 and one game on UniMás. Immediately following, all five Western Conference matches will be played at 7 pm ET, with one game airing on ESPN2 and one game on UniMás.

I think that's what people (including myself) assumed from what was said
The few things I've seen lately seem to indicate that no one's really sure how it's going to work out

The MLS is doing as much stupid shite as possible in its 20th year.

Blows my mind. Do they seriously want no one to watch their games in the fall?

I much rather prefer this method of scheduling (set days, set times, set channels) than the whack-a-mole scheduling of years past. I was a fervent MLS fan, and frequently had no clue when, where or who was playing nationally televised MLS games - other than the Messican station was on Sunday afternoon. NBCSN and ESPN would have games on all manner of days and at all times from 11 AM to 11 PM. Is there even a national game this week?
Ask yourself this:
What days and times are NFL games on? What station is Monday Night Football on?
What day(s) are TNT's or ESPN's NBA doubleheaders? When do those games start?
What channel is Sunday Night Baseball on? When does that game start?
When does Fox (broadcast Fox) show baseball games?
It's comical/sad that it's taken MLS 20 years to get to dedicated viewing slots, but it's a great sign that it's actually happened.

I'm not saying it is a bad thing that they got a dedicated day. My issue is why when you have a developing sport in the US would you want to compete with the ratings guzzling giant that is the NFL and CFB.
It just seems like terrible decision making. Compete with baseball instead.

I wish the MLS season was like EPL and other leagues
Every team plays a home and away. And you have a winner at the end of season. Instead of some rinky dink MLS cup have all the teams play in a tourney that starts at the beginning of the year and by seasons end have the semis and finals

MLS is not exactly starting with a whole lot to lose. They alienate even people who will preferentially watch soccer by being all over the place

Thats just our American spin on things.
Only way that would change is if the US Open Cup became huge.
But the playoff format is here to stay

Yeah by you are not taking advantage of people like me who want to support and watch the MLS, but I'm not gonna choose it over an NFL or CFB.
The Premier league games are great for someone like me because I can wake up early on the weekends and watch a bunch of games before the football comes on.
Like I said I get the idea of a designated day, just not why they chose the days.

Yeah, I get that, but I can't imagine that MLS is running around with a lot of leverage, so I suspect that this is some kind of compromise

That's fine in theory, but without relegation and an international league anybody gives a shite about, the season would be boring for 90% of the league.

Have you seen the attendances for most midweek games?

Great, then enjoy the season from March to September.
