What makes someone a good recruiter?

I keep hearing about how good Orgeron and Wilson are.
I've never followed recruiting so I don't really understand what makes you good at recruiting. Is it growing up in an area and knowing the local highschools? Or is it having a personality that recruits like and get along with?

The ability to sell the school...educational value, family atmosphere, winning tradition, playing time...and being as honest as possible. Knowing the lay of the land is good too, especially if the HS coaches like the recruiter.

All of the above imo.
First its identifying the talent.
Second its identifying the real decision maker/influence. For some its themselves for some its their mom for others its the high school coach.
For 1 and 2 thats where growing up and knowing the area come in. Old friends who are high school coaches will call and clue them in on some below the radar kid. Also having a similar background gives you knowledge of who the decision maker will be.
Third its work your arse off.

Charisma will bring a recruiter further than anything else. Recruits play for recruiters they like and trust above all else.
Some of these guys use their charisma for good and some for evil. Some recruiters tell the truth and others lie cheat and steal with their gift of gab.
