I was thinking about that earlier today. A lot of people say that USC wouldn't have had it so easy in the SEC.

I suppose you could make an argument that the skill position talent on both teams was pretty similar.

Would USC have put up similar numbers in the SEC during those years in your opinion?

And yes I know they played AU but one game isn't much of a sample size.

Serious????

The QB position at USC then>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The QB play at LSU 2013. The D's are almost equal for the 2003 USC D.

As I recall, offense wasn't the issue people had with 2003 USC playing in the SEC. It was their defense that people felt would have had them in the middle of the pack.

Which was even more fricking dumb. Pete Carroll has shown he is a defensive genius.

Plus, here is the talent from 03/04 USC defenses:

Kenechi Udeze
Shaun cody
Sedrick Ellis
Matt Grootegoed
Lofa Tatupu
Darnell Bing
Frostee Rucker

The way Mauck was playing towards the end of the year, LSU is really fricking lucky that we got matched against OU instead of USC.

I think USC was a bad matchup for us. Leinart adn Chow's quick west coast offense would've taken away the Dline advantage we had and would've exposed our weaker points like linebackers against TEs and LBers against RBs in the passing game.

Maybe Leinart freaks against the rush and has a bad game, but I truly believe USC would've won that game. (Not that they deserved the title shot)

Actually, that WASN'T dumb at all.

In 2003, the USC passing defense wasn't in the top 100 in CFB. Yes, you read that right. ESPN fed a myth about USC for years that everyone bought into.

Pete Carroll was constantly criticized at USC for his lack of defense, despite all the star power he had. The 2007 Stanford game being the final straw.

The SEC as a whole is much better now than 10 years ago. USC would have done fine back then in the SEC. I'm not saying they win it but they wouldn't have lost many.

Na. Bruh. 2013 offense was suspect. A qb almost breaking the school passing yard recordn a rb having the 2nd best rushing season in lsu history and 2 1, 000 yard wrs is meh. If our 2014 offense wasnt great, lsu had never had a great offense, ever
