Liked the original movie, and for some reason I really want to see this one. Probably because Brie Larson is in it.

Sounds like a remake of Rounders to me. Nothing really original.
Let me take a guess. He's a wise cracking guy whose good at poker. He gets in a real big bind with a bad guy after losing all the money he loaned from him in a card game and has to borrow money from someone else to win it back. He then goes through a crazy 1.5 hours playing poker and finally wins the money in a heated game at the end to pay off his debts.
