I'm just a fan. Watching LSU football brings me joy...it always has. Winning, losing...I love the experience of it. if it did not, like it seems to be the case for so many on this board, I'd find something more enjoyable to do with my time and money.

I'm not a player or a coach. I have no real steak in the outcome of games. That means I see no reason to pound my chest when LSU wins or feel "embarrassed" when LSU loses. I do not live vicariously through the successes or failures of the team, though I will largely because of habit refer to them as "us" or "we."

The people that seem to have the hardest problem with all of this are those that link themselves too closely to the program. When LSU wins, there are some that feel it was a group thing...that they were part of it and therefore can crow about it to fans of OTHER programs who ALSO too closely link themselves to that program. And when LSU loses, the reverse happens. It's why you read stupid comments about how hard it is to live such and such a place, or dealing with co-workers, etc.

Try taking a step back and realizing that you're simply not part of the program in any sense other than being a booster. You don't get a ring or a letter jacket. You're JUST a fan who has virtually zero control over any of this.

As much as I love LSU football...I'm just a fan.
