My evening with Motley Crue (humblebrag drum kit thread)

Guys were (mostly) cool as shite.
I have a friend that works for the band and he got me in.
Met Alice Cooper shortly before his set. REALLY nice guy.
So after Crue played and the show was over I went backstage to tell my friend goodbye. He gave me a cymbal bag...
It was really late and I had a 45 minute drive home so I didn't have a chance to open it until I got home. It was heavy as shite though. When I got home, this is what I found:
17" K Custom Hybrid China
21" A Custom Rezo Ride
20" K Dark Thin Crash
20" A Custom Rezo Crash
And 15" Z3 Hats that I don't have a pic of because they're put up already.
I've added a few to my kit here...
Gretsch Catalina Maple
10" & 12" rack toms
14" & 16" floor toms
22" kick
6.5x14 Taylor Hawkins Snare (that's in the pic, usually I play a 6.5x14 Gretsch Legend Brass)
21" Sweet Ride
15" K Custom Light Hats
18" K Custom Hybrid Crash
20" A Custom Crash
8" A Custom Splash
20" A Custom Rezo Crash
20" K Custom Dark Thin Crash

Yeah I shite my pants when I opened it.
Only thing that wasn't brand new was the K dark crash and Tommy used it that night. Pretty cool souvenir

I know I've posted in a few kit threads.
Honestly, get a cheapo until you decide you wanna keep playing. After that, IMO, you can't beat a Catalina kit. They're GREAT for the money.

Mixed feelings. Personally I won't own one unless I'm space limited.
They have pluses. Don't have to tune and change heads. Can program different sounds. Smaller footprint. BUT they just don't feel or sound the same IMO.
Personal preference I guess

Well-done. I'm a Paiste Signature/Dark Energy guy, but, those are some sweet cymbals.

Having sat in on a few over the years, I've learned to hate them. No dynamics, no natural response or "feel", phantom triggers, "miss-hits"; etc. I only see one useful purpose for electronic kts: Rehearsal kit for drummers who live in an apartment. But, that's just me...

My thoughts as well. I love getting that feeling of being deep in the pocket and just grooving the hell out. You don't get that with e-kits IMO

Remember, this would be for a beginner. So how much of that stuff mentioned would one actually be missing out on in the initial stages anyway?
I also like the idea of electric because I like to record using my DAW.

The feel? A ton. That's how you get feedback on your play. You don't know when you mishit...you dont know when you hit too hard or too soft. Half of drumming is how you play. You don't get it with those kits...They're just so sterile.
