Let's discuss the lack of run defense

Why do you think we are getting gashed so bad up the middle?
I was thinking back on the last 10-12 years where we had these massive defensive lines that clogged up everything. Then we had athletic Lbers and safeties who made plays when the runs went outside.
I'm not sure on the facts as far as weight. But it appears we are simply smaller on the defenive line, and our MLB leaves a lot to be desired.
Is our problem the onset of this new hybrid defensive end, sort of like Mingo? Rather we used to have bigger guys, run stoppers.
This has been bothering me more than anything so far. I love watching our defenses and the current one is just not as entertaining.
Anyone have thoughts on the problem with our run D? Let's discuss

We will never sacrifice speed is from chavis. His defense has always used tweeners.

Because the middle of the field was wide fricking open. And when it wasn't it was being occupied by Welter so it might as well been wide open.

No minter
No ferguson, Logan or Johnson talent
Basically no NFL talent

Definitely see the impact a Minter or Kelvin had.

Maybe so on the outside

Kelvin was once a welter type player, but the light switch eventually happened. He was really bad early on.

Chaivs likes to use LB sized guys as DEs and Safety sized guys at LB. Its great for going up against a team like Texas Tech or Oregon, but doen't work well against a smash mouth team. Add to that the early loss of so many DTs over the past few years and we have a talent an size issue on the DL.
Then there are the MLB issues.

He was never horrible but I did not see 2012 coming. That was still a huge surprise.

Seahawks have the lightest team in NFL by a considerable margin.
Yet top 3 Defense and a SB Ring.

K Beckwith at MLB would ease some of the pain. Melvin Jones would also help as he is wasting away as our 3rd team FB. Jones recruited as a Lb who Chavis calls the best big athlete on the team at 6ft3 245 pound range would also help the defense as he and KB are both big and fast

The Seahawks are on steroids.

DTs and MLB aren't what they were in previous years
That sums it up
