I bet if you were to gain the consensus of people the most outraged about what's happening in Ferguson, they would be strongly for increased gun control.
Hilariously ironic. Can't have it both ways people.

Some democratic politicians have come forward and said that police militarization is necessary because Americans are too armed.
Could you imagine past democrats like JFK or Truman saying that? I couldn't.

I understand the fear of loonies having weapons and shooting at public places.
But for the life of me, how random acts of violence by a crazy person is to be considered more scary than what's happening in Ferguson is beyond me.
I realize I'm somewhat oversimplifying the argument with 2 extremes, but it at least should be considered. Pick your poison basically. I'll keep my firearms, thank you.

Case here in DFW Texas where a off duty officer was found to have a weapon at a movie theater and they asked him to leave. Y'all cool with that?

If the Movie theatre wants to have a no guns policy that is their right. Both the first and second amendments protects us from the Government and not private business.

Why would we not be?

I wouldn't say it's because Americans are too armed but the thugs/criminals are too armed.

I disagree.
But it is true that righties think the right to arm themselves means they have a right to kill government agents they determine to be acting unconstitutionally. So if I'm a government agent going to bust some thug like, oh - Clive Bundy - I'm gonna want to be at least as armed as him and his nutbag buddies.

Are you saying the Founders didn't intend you to use your guns to fight domestic tyranny?
Posted on 8/15/14 at 6:45 am to SpidermanTUba
Which is akin to Bundy, fricking brilliant!

I'm gonna want to be at least as armed as him and his nutbag buddies . . . . or perhaps, just perhaps . . . . you could quietly arrest him as he's leaving the Kroger unarmed with a handful of groceries?

David Koresh shopped at Kroger?
EDIT-
You do bring up a good point though. Whenever I read about a SWAT warrant gone bad for something stupid like pot, I always think why didn't they just wait for them to leave the house - then go in, gather the evidence, and leave a uniformed cop or two behind to make the arrest when the suspect gets home? Seems obvious to me.

I would think he would use Sam's Club or Costco. You can't run a compound full of armed wacko cult followers without Kirkland Signatures products!

An armed populace is the epitome of checks and balances. That is why the PTB are so keen to disarm us.

Also ironic that gun sales have skyrocketed this week.
I did my part in helping the cause on Tuesday.

You're missing the big picture. The majority that are supremely upset with the level of dominance being displayed by Ferguson's police, SWAT, etc. are heavily for removing the checks and balances power of the 2nd Amendment.
