Need an OT Opinion here. I have a personal phone, which I've had since I was in college. My current company gave me a work phone, which they pay the bill on. My personal phone contract is up in September.

On one hand, I like having my own phone, so on weekends/vacation, if I don't want to answer it or be bothered by it, I can physically leave it. Plus, I have my number.

On the other hand, I'd save about $65/month by dropping it. Plus, I wouldn't have to carry two phones around all day.

What says the OT? Anyone else have this issue?

I put my personal phone on a senior citizen contract. Its dirt cheap. Did this just to keep my unlimited data with ATT. I forward all calls from my work phone to my personal and gave out my work number to everyone.

What my company does is have me pay $15 a month in return for full personal use of my phone. For that price I get unlimited talk, text, and data on an iPhone 5 through AT&T.

Some of the other guys here keep a separate phone but I prefer the convenience of having only one phone and fact it costs me next to nothing.

I'd keep both phones.

Will they let you expense your personal phone if you choose to keep it?

A lot of companies will let you expense it because most people will forget to expense it monthly.

I have two phones, that way I always know if I'm getting a work call or a personal call. Plus I can leave the work phone at home when I need to.

No, they would give me an allowance, but I'd lose the work phone. I've always done this at previous companies, this is the first one that gave me the option.

I've just kinda enjoyed the concept of being able to keep my work and personal stuff completely separate.

I transferred my college number to my company supplied work cell phone seven years ago. I haven't paid a cell phone bill since . Love it !

I can't do this because people don't call our on call number. And some customers have only dealt with me for the last 2 years so they always call me. Pretty soon that will be over when I change positions.

What about tracking? I don't think you want titty pics on a work phone. That's why I keep both separate.

I hate the fact that I pretty much have to carry my personal phone everywhere, so I would absolutely hate the idea of having 2 phones.

The current company is much better about respecting personal time than previous companies. I had a boss that would call me at 7am on Saturday mornings, send emails at all hours of the night, text me in the middle of the night. That hasn't happened here.

I went with two phones for about 8 months before dropping my personal phone all together. Started letting people know to reach me on my work cell and my personal phone phased itself out after a few months.

However, in order to be successful at my job it behooves me to be accessible at all times unless my customers/ boss are otherwise notified. I got tired of carrying two phones around.
