Was he on the recruit list? This is a hard one to figure- Coach Green at Parkview and JJ were team mates were they not?

quote:
Green said Thompson committed to South Carolina during a visit to the Columbia, campus last weekend.
“The distance (from Baton Rouge) was a big question,” Green said. “James and his father went over there for a visit, and they really liked it. They got some answers to questions they had, and now the distance isn’t as big a thing as it was before.
“South Carolina was probably the most consistent in terms of their recruitment of James, and I think that also played a role in his decision.”
Thompson averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots per game for a PBS team that advanced to the regional round of the Class 3A playoffs, losing 48-47 in overtime to eventual semifinalist Bossier. He was a three-time All-Metro selection and earned all-state honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association twice.

Johnny Jones wanted him to gain weight and play Center but James Thompson had no interest in that so we parted ways pretty quickly.
Elbert Robinson is a much bigger get over James Thompson, at least at C.
If Thompson plays PF though and is better than Aaron Epps then we definitely missed out, but I have a good feeling about Epps. He had a better season than Thompson for sure and his athleticism is unquestionable.

Man, I wish Tiger Droppings had a recruiting board for questions like this. Oh well, maybe one day.
