Questions about this product.

1. is it worth the price?

2. is it there something that is comparable or better that is cheaper or close to the same price?

3. do you like it? pros and cons?

PROS
The most powerful iPod dock we've tested. Does not distort, even at high volume levels. Intense bass response. Wedge-shaped design fits in room corners. A port exists for wireless streaming—but it's not yet activated.

CONS
Remote lacks full iPod navigation. Very expensive. No playback controls on dock itself. No video out for iPod. Speaker grille should be more stable.

BOTTOM LINE
Beatbox by Dr. Dre is Monster's first foray into the realm of iPod speaker docks, and while there are some glaring omissions for such an expensive dock, the fabulous audio quality makes up for it.

COMPARABLE

Get the Bose wireless speaker instead, it runs through bluetooth but has an audio jack in it as well. Holds a battery charge for what seems like forever and has incredible sound for speakers its size.

$199

Ok so it sounds like it will not pickup local radio stations unless you do it through your iphone?

No, it's just a speaker. Is there something specific you want the radio option for? You can pretty much get every radio station in the country through a smart phone these days

yeah was looking for something new for the beach. Like to listen to the local radio stations in Destin. Any ideas on a good speaker system for the beach?

Kinda looking for something that does a little everything but has really good quality sound.

They have apps like I Heart Radio that will let you stream local stations just FYI. Even though you want a built in radio, I still suggest the bose speaker I posted earlier. It's small enough to fit in one hand or a purse but puts out enough quality sound that we could listen to it going 20 MPH on a boat through the marsh. I'm biased since I love mine but don't know much about docks equipped with radios.

Headphones are very subjective but Beats are some of the worst headphones I've ever heard; a wretched blob of sound.

One of the below is what you want. They're cheap at less than $200 and they sound great.
Here is a closed/sealed type used as monitor 'phones in recording studios and are tough.
Audio Technica

These are open air which would make great 'phones for bicycling or jogging. They sound good at very low levels and will pull you into another dimension. They're truly seductive sounding.
Grados

Both are easily driven by iPods, laptops, etc but sound even better with a headphone amp.

I have one and received it as a gift.

I was very surprised as it blew the cheaper one I had out of the water. It's one of the few beats products with awesome reviews. Beats get a lot of flak because they're expensive to make up for all of the marketing. Their headphones can easily be beat by comparable priced headphones. However...

It produces a lot of sound and bass.

I don't think you would be upset with it. It's a good product.

I saw a "homeless" guy with a beats by Dre headset around his neck a few days ago. True story.
