How much should this cost? I'm paying $700 to have my 21' sea pro completely done.

That seems pretty steep, but I take it they do good work if you're paying that much?

Once a year I get my boat done which consist of buffing and waxing along with shampooing all of the carpet for 500 in Houma.

I did mime myself and let me just say, it is well worth paying someone. That is back breaking, slow work. Plus a good buffer is 250-300 just by itself. It took me about 4 hours to do my 18 sterling and the sides are only 12-13 inches high.
She shines now though

it took me two solid days to wash, buff, wax my 21ft wake board boat. it has higher sides than your bay boat, I believe and a lot of interior.

So Id say its up to you on whats worth it. if you dont have any of the tools and materials, it will cost you probably at least $200, if you need several compounds and such. So yes you can save some decent money, but its going to be some work

So is there anybody worth a damn around baton rouge that does boat detailing at a fair price? The sides of my boat are black so I don't want some yahoo putting swirl marks down the entire length of it.

Jesus dude. Boat detailers are probably the lowest paid segment of the population next to Burger King workers. Let's look at this: Consider that materials might cost you $200 (and I'm being liberal). If a boat detailer is getting paid $10/hour, they are saying they are going to spend 50 hours on your boat! guess what? they'll probably spend 10-15 hours.

This is waaaaay too high. Is it $700 important to you to have detailed boat that will get fricked up as soon as you start slinging in flopping trout?

I'd hire a car wash guy off the street and pay him closer to $250-300 and spend the extra money on booze or some of those new shrimp baits.

I told my dad he was being ripped off and that he should shop around. Oh well. His $. If/when I do it again in the future...I'll go somewhere else.

its not necessarily being ripped off, it depends on the amount of oxidation as well. but at that price, you should be getting some top notch service.

As for in the future, if they do a great job, just make sure you routinely wax it yourself for some preventive maintenance

I got paid $300 to wash and wax a 42ft fountain about 10 years ago. Starting to sound like I got fricked on that one
